A Collection of Japanese Novels of The Period of Japanese Rule in Taiwan. Dr. Song Seung-Seok, the translator of this book, was born in In-Cheon and graduated the Chinese Literature Department of Yeonsei University. He deeply studied about the Taiwan novels written during the Japanese rule in Taiwan. This book is a compendium of Taiwanese literature works written during the period of Japanese rule in Taiwan. Each stories, "The Newspaper Carrier" by Yang Kuei, "The Oxcart" by Lu Ho-jo, "A Small Town Planted with Papaya Tree" by Lung Ying-tsung, "The Analects of Confucius and The Chicken" by Chang Wen-huan are describing Taiwanese people’s emotional conflict and their gradual change from resistance to obedience toward Japanese colonization. These writers are renowned as the great writes of the Japanese colonization period. Chou Chin-po, Wang Chang-hsiung, Chen Huo-chuan are the writers who portrays the sorrow that the Taiwanese had to suffer during the Kominka Movement.
