Tân Kiàn-sêng (1960-), both a Taiwanese (Tâi-gí) poet and a playwright, devotes himself to Taiwanese creative writing and culture promotion. He is the author of Wanderer, a Taiwanese poetry anthology, and was once the chief editor of The Majestic Monthly. A Legend of Taiwan Heroes: Battle Siraya sets its background around Hú-siânn (modern Tainan area) and the Dawulong mountain area off the east of Hú-siânn. It is a script for a Taiwanese “golden light” glove puppetry play which tells a story about the cultural tensions and integration between the Taiwanese Pingpu Siraya and the Han. This entertaining play unites traditional puppet theater and the modern style of Taiwanese music and literature, filling the script with local features as well as cultural nuances. The Vietnamese edition, Truyện các anh hùng Đàioan: Quyết chiến Siraya, translated by Lù Việt Hùng is the first published script of a Taiwanese puppet play in Vietnam. As a Taiwanese new immigrant to Taiwan, Lù Việt Hùng has dedicated himself to increasing communication between Taiwanese and Vietnamese culture through translating Taiwanese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese literary works. He also serves in the Center for Vietnamese Studies in the National Cheng Kung University for the time being.
