The book is a fairy tale anthology by Cheng Ching-Wen, including Yan-shin Fruit, with animals, plants and insects of Taiwan native species as the protagonists; Red Turtle Cake, a fairy tale describing the traditional Taiwanese conception of life and death as well as of religion; a story describing the complex and conflict between Taiwan waishengren ( people who moved to Taiwan from China after 1945 until the late 1940s and early 1950s and their descendants) and Taiwanese—"Loach and Zacco Platypus", etc. The author mixed the fairy tales with rural life, natural forest landscape, Taiwanese customs as well as folk religions. His book is simple, implicit and meaningful, which is suitable for crossover readership.
